Whenever our interior life becomes caught up in its own interests and concerns, there is no longer room for others, no place for the poor. God’s voice is no longer heard, the quiet joy of his love is no longer felt, and the desire to do good fades. We end up being incapable of feeling compassion at the outcry of the poor, weeping for other people’s pain, and feeling a need to help them, as though all this were someone else’s responsibility and not our own.
It’s crazy how the people you surround yourself with shape you in the most beautiful sort of way. Being around happy, joyous, thoughtful, and caring people makes you want to be the same — making you want to shine and be a light for others’ paths. Sharing your dreams, hopes, and aspirations along with the struggles, failures, and heartbreaks of life brings people closer to the center of your being, inexplicably so. Praising and worshipping Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior together connects people across all borders and brings them to the very center of your being. The support and encouragement bountifully exponentiates, and with each step of the way, it brings you closer to God and in bringing glory to Him always.
Encouragement for a Rainy Day:
“You are so smart and wise, and I have a pillar of faith in me that you will find a way. I can’t give you any direction or point you to any resources, but I know you will find a way. Knowing who you are, the way you carry yourself, the way you care for other people, I know you’ll get there. Hearing you talk about your passions, the way you think about how your actions are going to influence others, and the way you’re so genuine…it’s so hard to find that in people our age today.
We often don’t realize how capable we are. Sometimes, I get in the same mindset as you do, where you care about things but then become overwhelmed by how many problems there are, but look at the 3 Muslim students who advocated for Syrian refugees — their efforts carry on even after their deaths. There is that ripple effect. Even if you’re just tackling one issue — like training community health workers — you don’t know how big and widespread of an impact you’re going to make. Sometimes, it’s about taking joy in the details.” – Zackary G.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24
“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.” – Psalm 138:3
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
